Accordion

Specific admission criteria for Accordion

In addition to the general admission criteria, there are also specific instrumental requirements. During the audition, you will perform at least one étude and a recital piece, unless indicated otherwise. The pieces mentioned are merely examples. You can also opt for other works of a similar level.

The audition can be performed on any of the usual types of manual accordion:

  • a piano accordion;
  • a button accordion (B or C system).

We recommend that you are already playing on a free bass system instrument.

Your performing skills and musicality will be tested on the basis of:

  • Études such as:
    -Siegfried Borris: Acht Studien für Akkordeon
    -James Wilson: Fourteen Rhythmic Studies
    -Helmut Quakernack: More Finger Jogging
    -Various composers: Gradus ad Parnassum

    -Torbjörn Lundquist: Neun zweistimmige Inventionen
    -Johann Sebastian Bach: 15 zweistimmige Inventionen (the Urtext edition)

    -Horst-Peter Hesse: Polyphones Spielbuch, Volume II (Baroque/arrangements)
    -Mogens Ellegaard: Polyphones Spielbuch, Volume IV (Baroque/arrangements)
