Marvin Heberger’s practice engages the viewer with the awareness of what he refers to as systematic alignments, finding ways to break through them, by speedrunning reality, or glitching it.

In his work, different forms of violence and playfulness become correlating tools which stimulate and immerse the viewer. In his research and practice, violence is not always necessarily violent, meaning that acts that disobey a system, which may seem disruptive, can instead help to create awareness and support new perspectives and understandings of a situation.

Marvin Heberger describes his work as circulating an agency to neglect imposed perspectives. His practice circulates concepts of speedrunning and glitch feminism as he works with physical spatiality and digital media such as animation, 3D scanning and video games.

Marvin Heberger's works are interactive installations, filled with obstacles of analog and digital media. These architectures involve the body of the audience and distract, hide or help to reveal different points of view. He then challenges the audience to apply these different perspectives to the moment, in their interaction with his pieces.

Where is the audience situated in the work? What can be seen and experienced, and what cannot? Marvin brings the audience to question and reflect on what position they have in connection to the work and encourages them to play with it.
