Ajna Lőrincz

Ajna Lőrincz looks at the coexisting of opposing concepts as a way to reconnect our perception of our body back to our physicality. Through installations of bodily skins and shapes held in restricting structures, Ajna shows the internalised societal pressures on the body. By bringing together the dichotomies created through the binary system, she creates a space for embracing the body as it is, with all the contradictions it might hold.

Ajna uses tactility in her work to incorporate our senses for physicality while raising the question of what factors have made us shift our perception of bodily boundaries into dissociation. Through her work Ajna creates a space to consciously and intentionally shift our perceptions with the purpose of reconnecting with our own bodies. She creates an environment that questions the norms of the imposed binarism and promotes listening to our own bodies instead.

Ajna Lőrincz shows that beauty and gore, inside and outside, and life and death exist simultaneously; also within our bodies. It is a work about reconnection, self-acceptance, and breaking boundaries. Her message is to be aware of and to allow the opposing factors in yourself to coexist, and to carry this into your extended self.
